About Our Adoption Fees
Upwards of 1,000 animals will come through Southern Nevada Animal Rescue League’s foster homes this year. Each has a different story to tell. Most come into our care from our shelter partners, some are surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them, while others are rescued from animal cruelty cases where they sometimes travel hundreds or thousands of miles for a second chance. But no matter how they got here or where they came from, they’re provided with basic needs, individualized medical treatment, behavioral rehabilitation when necessary, protection, and most importantly love and patience.
The total cost of caring for and re-homing these animals amounts to more than $400,000 annually. Adoption fees help offset these costs, covering just a small percent of the total expenses. We rely heavily on private donations and our own fundraising efforts to fill in the gap.
How Adoption Fees Are Set
We use a variable fee schedule to assign adoption fees. This fee schedule takes into account the animal’s age, breed, and medical commitment. Some types of animals are less common and have higher demand, so their fee may be higher. Other types of animals are more common, are older, or have special needs. A variable fee structure that assigns higher fees to certain high-demand animals ensures we have the funds to provide for other animals that have special needs and/or have a more difficult time finding a new home.

When you adopt, you're not only saving the life of your new pet, but you're also opening up space in their foster home for another abandoned animal and creating space in the shelter kennel for another animal whose life would have otherwise been on the line. Below highlights everything included in each SNARL pet's adoption, but most importantly, you'll also receive endless love and sweet sweet kisses for years to come.
